Originally we thought staying in the land of Robin Hood post graduation was a great idea. All that new talent arriving in September and all our mates constantly popping back to visit for mini-reunions. We soon discovered two traumatic facts. Firstly eighteen year olds aren’t that interested in single twenty-something’s unless you had much more money than we did. Secondly our mates couldn’t be bothered to trek back to see us, we know get the violins out.

Yet when we visited London Dick Whittington style we found we did actually have some friends and kept having impromptu mini-reunions, we realised that pretty much everyone we knew had ended up in the Big Smoke, ummmmm we thought why don’t we host a reunion in London? It sounds kinda odd having a Uni Reunion miles away from the Uni but if everyone’s in London then it makes sense to lower everyone’s’ carbon footprint and have it there.

Once we finally finished drunkenly slagging off everyone on Dragons Den in a pub one day saying how much better we’d be, we started to make things happen. We arranged a meet up at Tiger Tiger on a Thursday night and nearly 2000 recent grads turned up! There’s something in this we thought with Sherlock Holmes-esque deduction. In late 2006 we put on a Saturday club night and 2500 turned up, what’s more the totty was awesome, amazing what having a few quid can do!

We were certain we were on to something and thought we’d test the water with other Uni’s. This resulted in us spreading our wings a massive 12 miles from Nottingham to Loughborough. The Lufbra Reunion proved a stormer too with 2000 recent grads turning up to that party. Reverting to Sherlock mode we had an Innocent Drinks-esque moment where we decided to go for it and The Big Uni Reunion was born.

The plan now is to put on Big Uni Reunions for you and as many of the top Uni’s in the UK as possible (believe it or not some are a bit too snobby to work with us). We have done our first two biggies plus five more ‘intimate’ ones (Bristol, Liverpool, Durham, Birmingham and Reading) in 2007 and we aim in 2008 to put on at least twenty biggies. We hope to see you at next The Big Birmingham Reunion!
